At the University of Virginia we are engaging the Inclusive Excellence (IE) framework to synergize and support our collective diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging efforts. We feel strongly that a collaborative and area specific approach to IE planning, while using a collective framework and vision, offers the greatest opportunity to co-create goals and actions that will cultivate and sustain equity and transformational organizational change. Based on UVA's 2030 Strategic Plan the following specific vision statements have oriented our institution-wide planning efforts to build for collective impact. To learn more about the specific goals and action plans supporting inclusive excellence at the University of Virginia and UVA College at Wise access the School/Area plan you are interested in from the list below. While each area will have different timelines for strategies and actions identified in their plans, the Office for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, in partnership with the Office for Institutional Research and Analytics, will be annually publishing a series of metrics tracking overall institutional progress and each School/Area will be providing an annual progress and impact report beginning in Fall 2022. Several areas were significantly delayed by the response to the COVID-19 Pandemic. There are many other areas currently engaged in planning work and whose plans will be added to this site as the work continues.

UVA Advancement is supporting inclusive excellence through a focus on alumni engagement, the creation of a new position for a Director of Development for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, and a robust plan for DEI focused learning and development. UVA ITS is supporting inclusive excellence through a focus on more inclusive hiring practices in support of the goal to increase the representation of historically underrepresented groups in IT, including women. The UVA ITS plan also places a priority on staff learning and development, assessing the ITS work climate, building key competencies for managers, and fostering a more inclusive workplace.
